They arrested and charged Derrick Perkins, a “known drug dealer,” with obstruction of justice, illegal disposal of remains, and other offenses.

The Baton Rouge Police Department has come under fire from Millard’s wife, Amber, for how they handled the investigation. A Sudden Disappearance

Around 11:30 p.m., he walked out of the bar and headed back to his hotel room, which was just a block away. However, he never made it there. Overdose Suspected

According to the police, Nathan Millard overdosed on “blue magic,” a fentanyl-containing variant of heroin. He allegedly met Derrick Perkins, a well-known drug dealer, who drove him to a house where he overdosed. Perkins then disposed of his body and tried to hide the evidence. However, police arrested Perkins on March 13 and charged him with failure to seek assistance, simple criminal property damage, unlawful disposal of remains, obstruction of justice, and simple criminal obstruction. He has not faced murder charges yet.

Fury of a Family

Amber Millard, Nathan Millard’s wife, has voiced her anger and frustration regarding the police investigation. However,  she claimed that, from the beginning, the police had not taken her husband’s disappearance seriously.  According to her, there are a lot of unresolved issues and inconsistencies in the case. She suggested that the Louisiana State Police get involved because she wants more eyes on the case. She declared that his passing had left her heartbroken and distraught. For her family, she stated that she wants justice and resolution. She said she misses him every day and hopes he is at peace.
